March 25, 2023 - Tour de France blind tasting (Concord, MA): Post-wine for the tasting. A little oxidized, but still fine.

November 6, 2022 - Not technically flawed (no TCA or premox) but the nose was overwhelmed by a sour note that never blew off. The palate was pleasant, if simple.

Big disappointment given how long I’d cellared it.

March 27, 2022 - Golden without amber or orange hue. If there is a producer who is widely regarded as world class and who rarely satisfied me, than it is Huet. This bottle stored under optimal conditions since release shows a medium intense nose of pineapples, peaches and date. But it comes along as a chord, making it yummy, but not very interesting. On the palate it is medium intense and shows excellent balance of fruit and acidity. The sometimes in these wines quite pronounced tannic grip is here well integrated. Nevertheless I hoped for more again. 94 points from the WA. 5/12/16/9. -2030+?

December 10, 2021 - Kind of subtle wet wool, honey, tea, exotic spice, apricot pit; round soft entry with med. sweetness, really nice balance b/w sugar, acid, weight, length. Seamless, fantastic in good shape, nice tertiaries coming along. 92-93

May 10, 2021 - Glazed pear, oily citrus peel and honeyed ginger. Ample sweetness stopping just short of being cloying. Begs for food, excellent with Sichuan tonight.

(Le Haut Lieu HUET MOELLEUX) UPDATE: 4th of July Schedule The Spring shipping season is now officially closed. We will resume shipping in the fall when cooler weather prevails. We are working on some interesting shipping options for the fall season (to lower everyone’s shipping costs), so stay tuned... Just a reminder, the warehouse will be closed on Monday July 5th to give everyone at Garagiste a much needed long weekend (especially those that helped pack your boxes over the spring). We will resume normal hours on Tuesday July 6th. We will be open on Friday July 2nd for pick up but closed Saturday July 3rd so please plan accordingly for the long weekend: Friday July 2nd – open Saturday July 3rd – closed Sunday July 4th – closed Monday July 5th – closed Tuesday July 7th – open Thank you - we couldn’t do this without you! - Jon Rimmerman ************************ Huet Dear Friends, The weather approaches 90 degrees today in Paris but it is unusually dry heat for June, the type of weather that Vouvray sec and Muscadet sing along with effortlessly. While that may be true, the memory of this elixir from last night still lingers in my mind – a sweet offering of the highest order. Once again, the cream rises to the top - if Huet has not done enough over the last century to convince the world of their rank as one of the first growths of France, this sublime dagger will pierce any semblance of doubt left in the fold. From what is arguably my favorite vineyard in the Loire, Huet’s mastery with 2008 sweet wines shows an elegant touch in this year’s version of moelleux (53g RS – an impression of high Spatlese or low Auslese sweetness) with a spice drenched peach, ginger and pear quality that is imminently precise in its framework (complimented by a finish that goes on and on). 100% natural and organic in methodology, this is the winery’s waif-like dancer as opposed to Le Mont’s power and Clos de Bourg’s thicker intensity. Don’t get me wrong, all three vineyards are proud aristocrats but the feminine quality that Le Haut-Lieu often provides gives it a special dimension simply for the fact that the expression is so refined and pinpoint. With extended age, the other two vineyards may dominate but drink the 2008 Le Haut-Lieu moelleux over the following 10-20 years while you wait for your 2008 Le Mont and Clos de Bourg to mature: A lovely effort that shimmers and shines without ever losing focus or appearing “sweet” (which is certainly no surprise for this vineyard). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for lithe transparency aligned with depth and a lingering, terroir-flecked/mouthwatering finish. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY of the 2008 (we cannot obtain a second shipment).
