Community Tasting Notes 5

February 22, 2012 - Apple cider-like in appearance, almost like a late harvest, this Chardonnay has seen better
days. Off kilter some but showing notes of honey, tropical fruits and an unattractive, soapy
edge to the tangerine flavors. Flows forward with hints of marshmallow and chewy fruit cake,
eventually ending with a twist of orange peel dotted with spice. A little heavy, and a dramatic
departure from previous reviews. This was either a bottle variation or this wine has fallen from
    grace very quickly. Drink now

June 27, 2011 - Upon first opening, this smelled overwhelmingly like maple syrup. Calmed down over the course of a couple days to reveal a fairly restrained Sonoma Coast Chardonnay. It's still Cali, with lots of pineapple, orange and lemon citrus notes, but it retains a good amount of acid. Interesting for the price.

April 10, 2011 - Evolving personality surrounds this Pali chardonnay, with more acidity and
citrus array than previously notes. A lighter color, like hay, with a tropical
nose and hint of white flowers. Soft mouthfeel, this white opens with snappy
green apple, leading to lemon rind and a tint of lime. Tangerine still rules the
roost in this Sonoma Coast wine. Carmel notes, with some tart, red pear
folding in on the delicate finish. Drink now through 2014.

January 9, 2011 - Resembling a late harvest in color and with a perfumed nose of acaia flowers and
tropical fruits, this Charm Acres is not your run of the mill Sonoma coast Chardonnay.
Patience rewards the palate for this Pali white as it took about 2 hours to really come
together and reveal it's true personality. A zesty tangerine base with background
players of cream, orange peel and a hint of pineapple. Great balance and acidity
to frame all the pure fruit flavors. A pretty clementine at midpalate leads to exotic
finish dotted with grated nutmeg. Don't give up too soon on this, be prepared to
wait it out for best results. Great QPR for $19. Drink now through 2014.

December 13, 2009 - A solid Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast. It's only $24 and of a higher quality than one would expect. It retains some minerality but will appeal more to one with a palate geared to California rather than Chablis. Better than most Cali Chards at this price point.
