January 10, 2021 - ridiculously good burg. warmth of the vintage comes through very clearly (still), with ripe red fruit, and a long finish. acidity and bottle age keep it in perfect balance, but for new world pinot drinkers, this might be a revelation.

December 31, 2017 - Drank this wine over two days with family on New Year’s eve and on new year’s day. I was a bit concerned as this didn’t seem like a wine to age for 14 years and the 2003 vintage was extremely hot, which made some flabby wines. Having said that, the bottle had been stored in temperature controlled cellars since acquiring it in the mid-00’s. The wine was lovely. Wonderful but slightly muted burgundy nose of tea, red fruits, smokey bacon. The colour was unusually dark with little amber on the edges. On the mouth, it was medium bodied, a bit monolithic but over time delivering lovely spicy pinot flavours with a mix of red fruits and secondary flavours (tea, truffles, a bit bacon). A bit more intensity and a longer finish would have made it delivery even more pleasure. On the second day, the wine was wonderful. It had opened up and offered spicier exotic notes in a more structured palate, while retaining the flavours from the day before. This suggests it could keep longer and perhaps improve for a few years. But why wait?

February 7, 2015 - I was really looking forward to this for two reasons. One, it was a gift from a friend who doesn't know much about wine, and he put a lot of thought and effort into the purchase. Two, it was an opportunity to revisit the annus horribilis (note: this has nothing to do with hemorrhoids) that was 2003, a hellfire vintage of profoundly overcooked wines all over Europe.
Anyway, I opened it last night, and alas, it was corked. Top notes were all of musty cardboard and burnt match. The wine was almost drinkable and no where near as bad as the nose, but well beyond any state in which a valid assessment could be made. I guess you could say I was Grossed out.1 person found this helpful Comment -

November 12, 2012 - Good somewhat modern style burg. Chambolle nose develops in the glass over an hour. Good weight and dry finish. Good for the vintage and the style - a pleasant mid-week dinner wine.
