Community Tasting Notes 148

July 11, 2023 - No detailed notes. Cork broke but did not crumble and there was no sign of leakage. The wine remains opaque but has lost its intense purple color. Beautifully balanced on the nose and palate with all of the aromas, flavors, tannins, and even the alcohol working well together and creating an amazingly silky texture. While this wine is stunning it really doesn't seem all that complex, though, which would have earned it a far higher score.

July 3, 2023 - A bit of heat, strong fruit flavors still, otherwise very sound for this 15 year old Syrah.

February 8, 2023 - Pop and pour, drank half the bottle over 2 hours. It seems multiple tasters on cellartracker have accurately surmised the evolution of this wine. At this stage, it's probably on the slippery slope downward, No great complexity, but no alcohol either, very slightly pruny, hence my suggestion to drink now. This wine was better in its youth and had a VERY brief sweet spot, which I suspect is due to its modern profile and the hot 2007 vintage.

September 3, 2022 - As others have noted, this wine really hasn't evolved much. It's still all about the big fruit. Little in the way of evolutionary aromatics or flavors. I actually worry that this might turn prune-y if left too long. Zero tannin. Enjoy now for its fruit, as I don't see it improving from here.
