August 7, 2021 - Not quite at the perfect point of its aging curve, but getting close. Lovely red fruit presentation with plum, cherry and berries, with light spice and light pepper. I know all the BS about how you can't taste more than one or two flavors at a time. WELL Duh! When was the last time that you only took one tiny sip of a wine. I drank this with family over a dinner of Tomahawk rib eye, cauliflower with garlic and cilantro, Broccoli and onion in a spicy red pepper sauce with cashews and - for the rest, French Fries. This was an outstanding wine in its youth and it has blossomed even more as the complexity of fruit alternatives comes to the forefront while and roughness of youth recedes. I bought this from WINEX 15 years ago for $45. Was it worth the wait. Yes. Could I have done better by investing the $45 and buying the bottle now? With perfect provenance it probably would have been cheaper to invest and buy now, but there is an advantage to knowing from whence it came and exactly how it was stored in the 15 years.

Note also that I think I have gotten stricter as a grader. I suggested 14 years ago that with age this might poke its nose over 95 points as it improved. It has improved, but my score dropped. I think I've just had more really outstanding wines in the interim, because I remember the bottle I drank 14 years ago and this was better.

July 1, 2021 - Terrific showing. Retains the great Aussie Shiraz fruit and energy, but has mellowed and smoothed out beautifully. Long finish. Delish.

June 12, 2021 - Sweet sandalwood, prunes, teriyaki beef, roasted pecans.
This wine has just started its descent. So drink it ASAP.

May 3, 2021 - Dark garnet color turning violet at the rim with a reflective edge. At this age, there are still remnants of high octane lifting the black fruits with hints of smoky leather. The palate is full bodied with a velvety texture and enough alcohol to heat up the back of the throat. Once that settles, however, flavors of ripe blackberries, black olives emerge but simultaneously balanced by medium acidity. Secondary flavors of dried meat, pain grille, cloves, and peppercorn glide through the long, spicy finish. This is an excellent Australian Shiraz which has aged quite gracefully with enough structure for the medium term. Drink now until 2029.
