February 16, 2024 - Popped and poured. Needs about 30 minutes to open up. Attractive, subtle nose. The wine is medium bodied, elegant, excellent ancidity and focus. Red cherry, herbs, tea and a little spice. Still youthful with years ahead.
December 31, 2023 - Really nice. Bright, very bright, red cherry fruit, aromas of cherry, and a hint of dusty clay, plenty of acid, perky. I do get a sense of acid coming through, but it’s a 2008… This seems like it will make it a decent while longer, though not a long term ager. Drink them up..
August 4, 2023 - Translucent ruby. Fresh nose of fresh cut berry, violets, stony earth, acrid plum blossom. Layers of rustic iron-laden piquant red fruit with fennel and earth on the palate. Strong, almost weedy acidity and firm tannin. Long finish of dried but tensile red fruit, earthy iron, and ringing freshness. All over the place but ultimately enjoyable.
July 8, 2023 - 先做瓶醒1小时，有着很新鲜的玫瑰花同干花的复调花香，树莓果酱、樱桃碎、黑莓和山楂泥和红枣糕之类的果味，带着些许肉感、甘草以及肉桂之类的香料，整体颇为有力，力道内蕴。口感中酸度高，丹宁整体已经铺展开来，不过还有些许颗粒感，果味色调红而通透，内里有力，慢慢释放，可以说有些精气神，舒张之间也有柔顺劲。随着2-3小时的醒酒，无论是香气和口感中，黑果、蓝莓、薰衣草之类的果味在前段都更为凸显，不过整体似乎被红果环绕，有种温暖的包裹感。92+/100
June 13, 2023 - A rounder, more generous wine than the Caillerets with a slightly darker profile. These were both great wines and the nuances were subtle but apparent. Both bottles were clean as a whistle. This had more depth and a longer finish and was hitting on all cylinders. Loving these Lafarge 08s right now.
April 10, 2023 - Burgundy night at IT Paragon: A couple commented that this was a CdB and the most complete wine and I concurred on both counts. Concentrated, sappy red fruit in a good way, but the firmness of tannins made it a CdB for me. Vibrant fruit for a 2008, the structure of the wine was very much intact which suggested this had a long way to go unlike some 2008s that I have had that were advanced.
May 2, 2022 - Pausing for the Cause 2022 (Chicago, IL): Some pretty red fruit on the nose, with a palate that has a very slight herbal touch, and a few chewy tannins on the back end. For me this seemed a little more ready to drink than the slightly more structural Ducs alongside.
November 2, 2021 - Un nez envoûtant, élégant et assez complexe avec des notes de fruits rouges, écorces orange, beaucoup d’épices, poivre blanc fin, légèrement terreux. La bouche est sur le même registre, c’est frais, fin, aérien, tout en ayant une certaine poigne en finale. 91-92
A very complex, elegant and addictive nose of red fruit, orange peel, lots of spices, white pepper, slightly earthy. The palate follows with the same profile, it’s fresh, elegant, has lots of finesse, a touch of grip on the finish, it could seem light or lacking fruit to some but it is a gorgeous and more intellectual wine.
January 12, 2020 - Lots going on here - earthy tones, red fruit and spice. Goes down very easy. Drinking great though at the very beginning of what should be a long window.
