April 16, 2011 - Really enjoyed. I found it to be slightly old world in style. Some dirt and barnyard funk on the nose. Thin in the mouth, but a very pleasant. Not fruit forward or plum and berry, has some subtlety and earthiness. Good wine.

November 2, 2010 - Recent Wine Library Value Wine; 10/30/2010-11/2/2010 (67th Floor): Whoa, GV missed the boat on this one, big time. Light? NO! Very medium/full.

Seeing very little characteristics of Central Otago--no grassy funk or super saline minerality. To me, this is all new world sweet, underripe raspberry/blueberry aromas, with a touch of vanilla, in balance. A touch creamy in the mouth with similar flavors and a bit of savory oak. Nice wine, but nothing outstanding here.

Very good, but the '09 Oyster Bay DOMINATES this at a few bucks less. 88 -JRS

August 4, 2010 - color: med trans, a garnet curiously enough, med intensity, med wwr
nose: med plus, very fruit forward, def a new world, candied cherry fruits ... blind tasted this and aroma led to thoughts of austria, perhaps germany ...
palate: dry, acid is med+ tannin is med and perhaps plus (surprising ... this thought when BT led to gamay for the soil) tannin is med body is med alc is est 13.5 (yes) and finish is med+, very sweet like syrup

Ultimate the call was PN from new world this vintage, thought CA not Central Otago. A bit too sweet ...

Blind New Zealand Pinot Noir Tasting, Episode #921, 9/27/2010 (link) 90+ points

(Gunn Estate Pinot Noir) #1; COLOR-medium; NOSE-more of a stink bomb; sheep butt; very gamey and earthy; less fruit; which I like; more Burgundian; PALATE-lighter; more aggressive; some vegetal funk; beautiful raspberry on the mid-palate; more Burgundian and classic; vegetal; more Old World which I like; very solid; I like the body of this wine, but this is not for everybody as it is a hair light; floral and raspberry on the tail end; GUESS: comes across as a really good $25-$35 Red Burgundy; a very good wine; GUESS: $22; I love this Pinot, although it may be too light for many; GV-90+
