January 21, 2017 - Big, chewy, dark and bold but lovely balance. Long lasting mouth filling. Big chocolaty overtones. Really good wine.

October 20, 2009 - An wine intriguing and unique wine. Showing some good colour evolution, the wine was harmonious and ready to drink. Aromas of sandalwood and spice with some American oak evident. The rather rustic palate displayed allspice, leaf tobacco, mulberry and plum superbly balanced with the wine's structural components. The alcohol is high (15%) but not too obvious due to the balanced nature of the wine. Served with fennel sausage, it was an excellent match.

September 29, 2007 - My first experience of this varietal. Really pretty good. An interesting flavour. I will buy it again. This time I aged it until the latter part of its shelf-life, but it was still reasonably tannic and dry. Very good (85.5).

January 17, 2006 - Drank one of these in a vertical against the 1998 and 1994. It definitely improved with age, with the muddy, confused tones giving way to clearer fruit and great depth. This 2002 is still great on its own, but compared to the older vintages it was slightly disappointing. However, given time, the flavours should start to shine through. Right now, it is still high in alcohol, slightly muddy, but with deep fruit coming through on the finish.

April 18, 2005 - {cork, A$39} Deep red, with youthful plummy fruit aromas. Dense, furrily tannic palate, with great warmth of presence. Sits on the front and mid-palate, and concludes with a medium length finish. Rather overpriced I think, but otherwise enjoyable and characterful enough. A short-term effort though…
