February 3, 2018 - Popped and poured. Purple/ruby in color, nose of cedar, wood and spice. Still plenty of black fruit here, along with spice, some cedar and forest floor. Rustic in nature, somewhat grippy though not overly tannic. This wine has endured well and was a great bargain

November 10, 2014 - This wine in my opinion will continue to develop and improve. Today is is still not quite together but has wonderful, intense fruit.

September 14, 2014 - Dinner at Home (Fremont, CA): Coravin 9/14/14: Medium ruby color; spicy character, great depth of fruit on the nose; palate is full bodied, still quite youthful tannins but approachable, some fruit early on but fades into a bit of wood in the midpalate, slightly thin; finish is short-medium length. Nice budget bordeaux for the price, and the nose gives this a character that makes it enjoyable, otherwise it's nothing special. Pop and pour, may improve with air. Still has a few years left. 89-90.
10/1/14: Agree with previous note, and emphasize the short finish and the overall assessment that it has some minor character but overall not that remarkable. 88-89 today.

April 28, 2014 - Okay claret, but nothing special. Not sure what the 14 years have done except make it kind of thin. Still, mediocre claret, with a real tang of terroir, is better than the factory-made stuff from other countries.

June 14, 2013 - Backyard Party (Fremont, CA): Cedar on the nose while decanting. Medium violet color with minor bricking; nose has lots of cedar, wood, cinnamon spice (probably the strongest character to the wine); palate has juicy black fruits at the forefront, nice fresh acidity, tannins are well integrated and smooth instead of grippy throughout most of the wine, though it kicks in a bit right at the end, some spice on the palate; finish is medium length, fruity. This is quite a good wine with an interesting nose that has unique character, fairly good balance on the palate, good complexity between fruit and spice. At early maturity, but unlike my last bottle I actually think this has some development ahead and a long plateau. A strong buy for $25. 91
