May 5, 2014 - Day before holiday "DBH" lunch with JL, TH and Ms Han (Cipriani, Hong Kong): JL who brought this bottle thought it was oxidised but I disagree. And this is not just because I have low sensitivity for oxidation. It's because many CDP whites do exactly this -- they're perfectly fine for first 6-10 years then go through a strange brownish oxidised phase for a decade or two before reemerging nice and clear, a bit more complex but otherwise just fine. (Or so goes the theory...) The trouble is we don't know exactly when this 1990 VV will awake from its brownish slumber... But when does it could be stellar. So those of you out there who have a few bottles, please hang on to them and try one in 5 years. For the time being it's not bad, some charming notes of pear, lychees, dried flowers; more than drinkable!

December 20, 2011 - Brownish color, like tea
smells like a medium bodied sherry, clearly maderized
On palate it comes and goes, very short, leaves a bit of acidic impression then it's gone
Very disappointing for a supposedly fine example of white Chateauneuf . Maybe the bottle had not been kept well

February 29, 1992 - At S&F. Distinct yellow/straw color. Lots of glycerine. Nose is fat and buttery. Lots of body, and again, fat. The best one of Beaucastel's "VV"s I've had. 5-10-15-7: 87/100.
