January 15, 2024 - Floral nose with slight spiciness. Medium weight. Plenty of structure still left on the finish if served at cellar temp - becomes a bit rounded above 60F.

August 1, 2017 - Tasted from a magnum bottle for 4 consecutive days. Pitch black in the glass with a small red outer ring. Deep, resonant, and delightful aromas of lilac, black cherry, and cassis. The sip is very concentrated, upfront smooth and fruity, and mouth coating. A wonderful undertow of acidity and tannin keeps the wine refreshing, taunt, and lively. The aftertaste is complex, layered, nearly endless, and goes out dry. Overall, a convincing demonstration that Pignolo makes a great red wine that is complete, satisfying, and competitive with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, and Nebbiolo.

January 15, 2010 - Wine Watch Best of 2009 Tasting (Ft. Lauderdale, FL): Tannic, high acidity, cherry fruit. Needs time, not drinking well now.
