October 14, 2022 - Excellent light yellow color. A beacon of orange peel on the nose. Medium weight, pure citrus with outstanding energy imparted by the acidity and underlying saltiness. The oldest Lamy I’ve tried, and in absolutely great shape, in fact still primary.

    I can't stop drinking these.
Lovely nose of orchard fruit, chalk, lemon curd, vanilla bean, and jasmine. On the palate, it's detailed and toothsome with terrific dry extract delivered with a graceful touch. More pear, jasmine, chalk and lemon curd, with some nutty mature notes on the back end. This is a wine of harmony and effortless grace. It's mouthwateringly fresh with terrific detail, and finishes fresh and clean yet simultaneously long. Not at profound as my last bottle, but delicious nonetheless. At peak. 94

A wonderful nose with orchard fruit, chalk, lemon curd, marzipan, jasmine, and a little honeyed feel. Fantastic. On the palate, this is a bit more lively than my last bottle a couple weeks ago that prompted this sooner than average opening. On the palate, it's a wine of harmony and symbiotic contrasts. Fresh and deep, detailed, expansive yet seemingly weightless. More florals, nuts, and honeyed tones add to the orchard as much as citrus fruit. Everything comes together into a greater whole. The best bottle of this I have had. A terrific balance of soil, fruit, acid, and florals. Seamless and regal, with an inner calm to its beauty. At peak and terrific. A mini Chevalier. Why we cellar wine. 95

April 8, 2022 - A more mature color than my last two bottles. Marzipan, lemon curd, jasmine, and an almost honeyed, nutty note on the nose. It's structure and toothsome on the palate: deep and seemingly broader than my last two bottles, having fleshed out a bit. It's still a structured, deep, and soil driven wine with a little more mature feel to it. Citrus more than orchard fruit with a nuttiness and honeyed and butterscotch undertones now. That said, this is still more about the chalk and soil. Outstanding balance with power and precision. Very long on the back end. This bottle for me is at peak, but the difference since just a year ago is more than I would expect. I will try another one some time soon to see if this is just bottle variation or more its progression.

January 2, 2021 - Limpid green gold in color. On the nose, citrus, asian pear, chalk, marzipan and some pineapple. On the palate, it's chalky and toothsome coupling power and precision. Lemon curd. more citrus, nut, and chalk. Although here is lovely fruit, this is about soil. There's a sense chalk and a mouthwatering feel like licking rocks. A deep, yet detailed, fresh, delicious wine drinking very similarly to the last bottle last month. Terrific balance and pretty much terrific overall . 94

(EN REMILLY Lamy St. Aubin) UPDATE: Thanksgiving Dear Friends, Before we get into today’s offer, I would be remiss without giving thanks to you and to those that have come before us. Without you, I could not do this every day – a notion I am keenly aware of. Thanksgiving is a time when we recoil a notch, curl up with our friends and/or family and take a moment to just be. It’s also a time for us to look back on the year and anticipate the exciting month to come. Spirits are usually high and the anticipation of the December holiday season gives us a jump in our step that’s universal. With so many distractions around the world (economic, military, political), try to pause during the weekend and just live for the moment - without worrying about Bollinger Bands, Korean conflicts or other. The soul can only take so much frayed-nerve news, layered over time in a way that calls for the human psyche to unravel. Don’t let it. As a species, we thrive on hope, sanctity, ingenuity and hard work (not always in that order) - at Thanksgiving, it’s an opportunity for all of us to reflect on the peace of mind created over hundreds of years by those that have added to our society, one brick at a time. While that peace of mind may teeter during tough times, there is optimism that springs eternal – optimism that stems from the basic notion of hope and faith in our fellow man. Who knows, maybe a bright blue sky is contagious? Have a terrific holiday break and...thank you - - Jon Rimmerman ********************** Burgundy If you are looking for consistency in white Burgundy over the last decade, Hubert Lamy is an address we find ourselves returning to again and again. In 2007 and again in 2008, St. Aubin had the benefit of a micro-climate that stressed terroir and soil over the more buoyant fruit substance in neighboring Puligny. The nervous energy of both vintages, aligned with beautiful layers of crushed rock, lime and lightly pressed Chardonnay sap allow the taster to cleanse the palate while also coating it with a natural, medium weight extractive that could only come from the environs of Beaune. As in 2007, Olivier Lamy’s 2008’s tread an admirable balance between moderate and effusive with a mineral soaked delight that result in a portfolio that sparkles. They are interesting to drink on their own but also with a variety of fare - Thanksgiving and poultry come to mind but also lake fish, trout and braised pork. If you are interested in white Burgundy, you will enjoy watching both of the wines below evolve over the following decade as they become more refined and complex (although both are a joy to drink today as well, especially the Clos de la Chateniere – a wine that literally explodes from the glass – it will be tough for me to leave it in the cellar). Please note: Normally, I would give you the benefit of the Burghound reviews (even if they are negative) but Alan did not taste these in Burgundy and the 2008 stable he ultimately reviewed for Lamy bares little resemblance to what’s in the bottle. Samples were air-freighted to him in Los Angeles as he was unable to taste them at the Domaine and the condition of the samples suffered as a consequence (something that should have been noted in his review). If you juxtapose Tanzer’s verbiage with Alan’s, it’s like two different producers? Having tasted both wines 3-4 times, the essence of what Tanzer describes below is quite close to the liquid in the bottle – they are a combination of finely detailed sap and mineral with amplitude and wonderful length – there’s nothing linear about them. Alan is always very accurate so I’ll just chalk this one up to a miss on his part due to poor samples. This parcel is directly form the Domaine cellar with perfect provenance: 2008 Domaine Hubert Lamy Saint Aubin “En Remilly” 1er - (IWC92) (compare at more in the US) 2008 Domaine Hubert Lamy Saint Aubin “Clos de la Chateniere” 1er Cru - (IWC90) (compare at more in the US) Both are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as transparent and reflective examples of their terroir and varietal – it’s impossible for me to pick a favorite between the two. Please give us your maximum number up to 24/each wine and we will allocate accordingly To order: niki@garagistewine.com This parcel is on the water – it will arrive in late January (please check OARS for local pick up after Feb 1st).
