Community Tasting Notes 1

February 23, 2012 - Aerated and decanted about 1.5 hours.
Nose is thick, sweet, and sharp, promising an intense experience.
Body is full and round. A little juicy at first, but huge tannins balance out the concentration. It's also clear right away that alcohol level is high.
Tasted on its own there are dark chocolate covered raspberry jellies counterbalanced by savory celery. Black pepper and expensive arabica beans also present themselves. With food, the wine reveals ripe, dark plums and reminds the taster that among all the other deliciousness there is ample acidity too.
Finish is huge, with alcoholic heat, prickly tannins, and acid on the enamel of one's teeth.
A truly great wine. I believe this supplants the tom eddy as my favorite 2006 cab.
