October 13, 2021 - NobleRottersSydney - New South Wales (Fix, St James, Sydney): {screwcap} [Gordon] Good show history years ago, this wine. How does it look at twelve, though? Pretty damn good, actually. Only a little developed, the aromas here are grassy and hay-like. It’s a quintessential HV Semillon palate, with fresh straw flavours and just a little weight from bottle development. Light-/medium in body, it feels neither young nor old on the palate, a bit weighter than the aromas lead you to expect, and with good presence through the mid-palate. Has years ahead of it still. Rather more developed than the following Poole’s Rock bottling though.

August 4, 2021 - Light golden colour but still with green hues. Crisp citrus but with subtle hints of honey. Would still go years in the bottle!

October 25, 2019 - Middle phase - neither young nor old. Very light on its feet, just deeper than limpid in texture. Acid is in line with fruit development and down from its former fierce intensity. Perhaps the perfect antipasto wine stylistically. Drink now (my recommendation) or wait for the tertiary (curio) phase of HV semillon. deserves its price tag and gold medals on it's neck.

August 17, 2018 - Green flecked yellow light-medium. Hay, toast, lanolin, lemon & lime. Smooth integrated palate but alive with zesty acidity. Very mouthcleansing semillon with still years to go. Definately a 15 year wine, possibly a 20 year under screwcap. Will continue to build in the bottle over the next 3-6 years. What a great seafood wine style aged HunterValley semillon is. A shade under the greats (Lovedale, Vat 1) in intensity but probably looking like it will last longer than them. I should do a comparative tasting of the 09s in 2025.
