July 17, 2021 - I used this bottle to top the other three.
cork was in decent condition given the age of the wine.
Some amber but overall a hue I would associate with a 50 year old bottle.
The aromas are really lovely while almost entirely on the tertiary side: tobacco, gravel, spices, very little soy given the age of the wine.
Really nice mouthfeel given good underlying acidity and just a little tannin. This combination has clearly kept the wine alive nicely.
The wine was unlabelled and was narrowed down to either the '28 or the '34 and it's clearly not a '28, so...
Very classy St Julien showing Leoville in its most favorable light.
    Drink over next 5-8 years.

February 13, 2021 - Nice showing hinting towards a much younger albeit aged Wine. How should you rate such a Wine? On an absolute basis or relative to its age? The 90 points are absolute. It would rate much higher on a relative scale. Acidity is off course low, but there is still a very pleasant fruit and loads of tertiary notes with mushroom, the scent of autumn forest etc

March 17, 2020 - Cherry, apple, notes of marzipan, and slight decay; on palate still reasonable fruit, sharp raspberry and cherry, noticeable acidity, peaked and a bit short but still drinkable and interesting; with several hours the wine opens up somewhat with slightly longer finish

August 24, 2018 - The 1934 Poyferre followed the 1914 Larose Faure. Fully resolved, but this started with a little funk. Not bretty, just some old/funkyness. Deep, dark black cherry, dark earthy soil, comes up a little short on swallow and finish. This did get a little better with some air, and I rather enjoyed it before it succomed to more air an hour later. Still an awesome wine! 90

August 24, 2018 - This needed some airing out to get going, started out questionable but eventually got damn good. The scents seemed to betray a bit of volatile acidity. The palate amazingly still shows some structure, which together with some smokiness around the edges marks it with a little austerity. But it really improves and sweetens up in the glass. Some blueberry fruit (a Poyferre signature) even manages to come out of the woodwork, and the smoke gets even more billowy. By the end this might have even managed to match the Larose.
