December 13, 2023 - Opened at a dinner with Nebbiolo tasting group. Bottle in great shape. Color good. Showed quite well considering its age. Prominent tertiary notes of iron, tar, fruit still quite alive, but clipped on the finish.

October 19, 2022 - Wow again, three 1971 wines in one night and really some of the best wines from my vintage I have tried. More strawberry notes here with a touch of wood on the palate. Lighter than the Giacosa but great length and elegance. Quite a wine!

August 5, 2016 - French and Italian wine gathering (The Grill Room at Rosewood DC): Very youthful and linear nose displaying slightly dry cool red fruits, cherry, leather, anise, mint, nail polish and a hint of damp earth. Very harmonious and linear palate, medium concentration, dry cherry fruit driven palate impression, bright acidity and long mineral driven finish. Although I enjoyed the wine, the others seem to appreciate more. I thought it was slightly lean compare to two perfect riservas from the 78. Nevertheless, what a privilege to try this rare gem.

August 18, 2012 - Fabulous. What an amazing winemaker Giacosa is. At 41 years the wine shows intense bricking, wonderful aromatics on the nose, vibrant acid and sweet clear fruit. Wonderful mouthfeel. Lovely.
