August 20, 2017 - Henri Jayer Dinner (Ming San's): The first of the serious wines, and what an entry point this was. It had such a deep nose, smelling of sweet, succulent dark berries and cherries, a touch of woody bramble, some funky earthy aromas, and then a waft of fragrant powdered spices. A really concentrated bouquet. The palate was wonderful as well. Not quite as showy as the nose, but having a quieter intensity to its mouth-filling flavours of dark cherries and ripe berries. There was a wonderful graceful length at the finish, with a hint of flowers and a final pull of NSG's stony mineral right at the end. This was a nicely maturing wine - round, smooth and velvety, yet still vivaciously fresh and delicious. Wow. Absolutely superb. While really delicious even on first pour, one still feels that it really needs a good number of years before hitting its peak though. I loved this and kept coming back to it throughout the night, and each sip seemed to be better than the last.
