December 3, 2023 - Tree bark in the nose, not green but just subtly hinting toward it, more like live wood. Impression of very low acid on the finish. I enjoyed more than the rest of the tasting group. Would not seek it out again, but am curious to try it again.

September 14, 2023 - Guys night - a bottle with a story (Jason's house): Decanted prior to serving because a bottle 2 years ago was decanted an hour and seemed tired. Drank a good-sized glass over 2 hours. This was a significantly better experience. Slightly green and austere, with scorched earth, white flowers, a bit of anise on the end, tobacco, great complexity and well-integrated.

September 14, 2023 - Guys Night - Wines with a story behind it! (Jason's House): This is the second time I have tasted this wine, and this time my expectations were not quite as lofty. I thought this wine was better than 2 years ago.

Nose showed some cherry, violets, leather, a little funkiness and some spice and cedar. Palate started out red fruited, bitter chocolate, and old leather with some tar, tobacco and spice. Later, some black and blue fruit started to emerge, although still in the background. This wine exudes elegance, but completely lacks power. Will it improve? No idea, but drinking fairly nicely now. Still a little disappointing given the pedigree and vintage (yes, I have sky high/First Growth expectations for this wine). 94 to 94+ tonight. Thanks Joe!

August 5, 2023 - Weekend in Michigan with Wine; 8/5/2023-8/6/2023 (Asian Spice House - Buchanan MI): Many 1989s took a long time to fully harmonize, but this came as across as still slightly awkward. Lots here, but clear and pronounced tannins are not in sync with the fairly robust fruit. First time I recall tasting this wine, but another taster said a recent previous bottle was substantially better.

December 2, 2022 - Light to medium body. Beautiful tertiary flavors of dark fruits with a very faint hint of iron. Very nice balance and finish.
