Community Tasting Notes 4

  • Chateau Cabron Likes this wine:

January 9, 2012 - Dark brick red, slight haze on anotherwise shimmering complexion
Opens with an intriguing bouquet of dried mushrooms, sous-bois, cigar box, rose petal, dried strawberries and dried cherries. Medium bodied, plus acidity. Strong notes of dark chocolate, rose scented tobacco and dried red fruits on succulent medium bodied palate with a nice plus note of acidity. Nice backbone of astringency compliments the acidity and richness. Very well balanced, and has an incredible minute + long finish. Simply delicious wine that really opens up with 2 hours of airtime.

    This is wine.

October 31, 2008 - Last one! Still drinking favorably and what an explosive nose! Has a nice light ruby red color. The nose exhibits seductive, spicey sweet berries; nice flavor and balance with more of the same tastes; very short finish. Overall very pleasing!

September 4, 2004 - $14.50 from Navarro. A fine Pinot, needs a half hour in a decanter to show its stuff. Halfway between the ripe California style and the lean Oregeonian, it shows some "sous bois" and some ripe fruit. Intriguing smells, and a good follow-through. Fine match accompanying salmon with mushrooms, onions, and mustard sauce. Very Good.

August 30, 2004 - Pretty light red color. Strawberry and bing cherries jump from the glass. Slightly acidic on the palate. Smooth sweet finish with a nice focused light red fruit.
