August 23, 2019 - First time with this producer. Off the list at the Ledbury. We had plenty of wine and I still pushed for us to get this mostly because I've been dying to try it and finding this wine with much age seems to be tough. I was very taken with it. Lots of the power and precision of rhone. More of the savory notes but there's black fruits mixed in. To me it was a wine that stood out on the table. Bit of that iron side. I was a big fan.

October 28, 2018 - Cornas lunch (Macleay Street Bistro, Potts Point): The appearance is clear and deep ruby in colour. Tears and sediment are visible.

The nose is clean. The aromas have a medium intensity and show notes of mineral (menthol, earthy character), pungent spice (black pepper), and black fruit (blackberry). The wine appears youthful.

On the palate, the wine is dry with medium(+) acidity, medium alcohol, and medium body. The medium level tannins are ripe and silky in nature. The flavours have a medium intensity and show notes of black fruit (black plum, blackberry), bottle-age (meaty character), and pungent spice (black pepper). The finish has a medium(+) length.

This is a very good quality wine. The flavours are concentrated and have a great balance with the acidity and the alcohol. The tannins have a good balance with the acidity. The neutral oak treatment does not interfere with the fruit expression. In its current state, the wine shows primary and tertiary characters (youthful nose, but appears developing on the palate). The finish has a great length.

The wine drinks well now, but has potential for further ageing. The fruit intensity is great, and the tannin and acid structure should support the wine as tertiary notes further develop.

October 28, 2018 - Cornas Birthday lunch (McLeay Street Bistro, Potts Point): "Stalky, earthy, bonfire, wood polish, slightly jubey sour red fruits. Sourly juicy, stalky, leathery tannins, peppery heart.

After 2hours acetone, brambles, spiced blackberry, a little green note. Juicy, sharply acidic, pepper spice on the finish."

January 7, 2018 - The last of my stash, and as good as ever. With age the primary fruit has receded some but this still has lots of vigor. Smoky, medicinal and meaty, with more leather than I remember and slight camphor quality I usually associate with Cote-Rotie. Unmistakably Northern Rhone in origin. This is a superb wine and it paired brilliantly with very gamey meat (lamb neck, short rib).

December 12, 2015 - There's plenty of earth to the aroma and a few cedar and ripe berry things as well. It is glossy against the gums, a wine of polish and soul. Tannins are round yet add freshness and there's a suggestion of wild herbs that punctuate the finish. Drinking well.
