Community Tasting Notes 8

December 8, 2012 - The wine was a dull, light to medium ruby color with a fair amount of brick. The exotic nose had raspberries, black cherries, sandalwood, warm baking spices, dried flowers, and just a touch of underbrush. This is barely medium body with fully integrated tannins and good acidity. On the palate the wine gives a quick burst of red to black fruit then slowly transforms to the more savory elements. The finish is the opposite of the palate, the savory elements slowly fade leaving some candied cherry and spice. This is a wonderful, 9 year old Beaujolais, and based on this bottle, I have no fear letting a bottle lay for a couple extra years.

Have to say this is the first time I've had a 9 year old Beaujolais, but based on this bottle, I have no fear letting a few bottle lay for a couple extra years.

April 20, 2012 - Definitely past its window. This was once an excellent pop and pour, but this wine has definitely turned. Very "raisin"y and acrid taste. Got through the bottle, but it wasn't pleasant.

April 30, 2009 - halloween candy bag and cedar nose. overripe strawberries and tobacco, secondary flavors dominating. grainy tannins, ample acidity. long finish. drink up.

November 28, 2008 - Sadly, this was heavily corked. Smelled as though grandma's basement was full of moldy cardboard.
