September 2, 2021 - The past couple of times I've had this it's been a rockstar. Tonight it was completely overshadowed by a '07 St Innocent White Rose and by itself might have seemed impressive tonight it was an afterthought.
Tart red fruit, dried red flowers, iron, a bit of oak (especially on the nose)and Asian 5 spice.
See RockNRoller's take on the '07 White Rose for a spot on take on a spectacular wine. -

September 2, 2021 - Medium red plus color. Decanted for an hour plus and drank a glass plus over 3 hours. This wasn't quite as expressive as some previous bottles; cherries, oak, iron, underbrush, Asian spice on the nose. The palate is leaner, though the power seems to still be there but maybe a tad thinner on the mid palate, tart cherry, tart cranberry, earthy, hints of strawberry, iron minerality, spicebox. This probably suffered an unfair comparison by drinking side by side with a glorious 2007 St Innocent White Rose. 92+ to 93pts.

October 24, 2020 - Hearing about an early drinking window for 2007 cote de nuits, I opted to try this bottle tonight - 13 years young. Decanted for 45 minutes, the nose was definitely with sizeable heft...reminded me of a Bonnes Mares from 2003 that I had just 2 months ago. From the nose, I expected a long finish and a big wine but it was slightly less substantial when tasting. It almost trailed off towards the end of the glass. I felt like it wasnt as integrated as I would expect. I even tasted lingering alcohol. Still, a solid wine but if I was honest with myself, perhaps this is more of a 91.5. Maybe it's Charmes Chambertin?

January 8, 2020 - My btl and same btl as R&Rler. I'm pretty much in agreement with R&Rlers assessment. Served along side Kevin's impressive 2001 Frédéric Magnien Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. This btl made a for a contrast in producers as this wine seems a bit more old school in style. That said the companion Beze from another producer was definitely showing the expected more depth & concentration of the legendary Grand Cru than my Charmes. Both blts fun. My Charmes just leans more earthy red fruited to the darker fruited and likely more oak infused Beze. Both fun but different wines. Advantage Beze with its superior terroir!

January 8, 2020 - Three out of Five Ain't Bad (The Kenwood, Mpls, MN): Medium dark red color. PNP, drank a glass over 2 hours. Open and giving again, this has always been pretty impressive. There's a nice perfume to the nose with pretty red cherry and red currant fruits, a little herbal with a sublte green note, damp forest floor and mushroom with a tart body just on the lighter side of medium. I love the freshness and purity here. Everyone was talking up the Beze, but this was darn good too. Another reason to love the '07 vintage.
