  January 19, 2017 - Decanted; deep ruby color. Notes on second day... Nose of dark fruit, vanilla, and toasty oak. Tightly wound palate, medium-to-full-bodied dark fruit with quite prominent tannins. Medium length finish. Would like to see the tannins soften, and perhaps they will with more age. Should still be drinking well for another five years.

  July 6, 2013 - A similar appearance to Valdegatiles drunk before showing a dark inky core and violety rims. The aromas are concentrated showing dark cherries, plums, blackberries, licorice, roasted meats, graphite, cedar, incense, scorched earth, hints of vanilla. A bit more austere on the palate showing dark cherries, plums, blackberries, licorice on the attack that show a slightly simple midpalate filled with dark chocolate, roasted meats, and a slight earthy note. The finish is of moderate plus length showing cherries, plums, blackberries, Indian spices, crushed stones, vanilla, and very chewy fine grained tannins. A tightly wound full bodied wine that is very elegant, concentrated, with an impressive structure, though it lacks a bit more depth compared to Valdegatiles.
