May 6, 2022 - Cellared in perfect conditions since 2006
Decanted for 30 minutes into glass at 12 degrees.
Wow-- Beautiful bouquet of dark fruit and forest floor. Restrained but more like a young wine
    Tawny rim showing its age.
    Polished with little sediment.
Palate complex and elegant with lots of fruit and fine drying tannins. Long finish. So smooth
    A very good bottle
Note :- Cork very long and a little fragile be gentle.

March 17, 2018 - I’m opening my last bottle of the 03 Larcis Ducasse after recently reading a couple of professional write ups about the wines fruit fading and to drink up. I did not find that to be the case w/ my last bottle. I found the wine to be around it’s peak form with another 5 years plus ahead. On the nose; menthol, eucalyptus, ripe; dark cherries, cherries, blackberries, plum, poached & candied strawberries, notes of blue fruits, black raspberries, cherry cola, touch herbaceous; sage & bay leaf, limestone & rich, moist, black, turned earth, crushed dry rocks, graphite, dry soil/clay with dry & fresh dark florals. The body is medium full. Tannins are 75-80% resolved. The length, structure, tension & balance are right where I’d expect them to be and are quite enjoyable. The palate is very similar to the nose. Menthol, eucalyptus, ripe; dark cherries, cherries, blackberries, plum, poached & candied strawberries, notes of blue fruits, black raspberries, cherry cola, touch herbaceous; sage & bay leaf, limestone & rich, moist, black, turned earth, crushed dry rocks, dry & very grippy, edgy minerals, Montecristo cigar, graphite, dry soil/clay with dry & fresh dark florals. The acidity is lovely and the long finish is well balanced with an even tug of war between fruit & earth with the dry earth dominate on the long set.

(LARCIS-DUCASSE) Overnight Dear Friends, A few interesting odds and ends of note while I burn the midnight oil... All directly from the source with perfect provenance: 2005 Château de Puligny-Montrachet Batard Montrachet (BH92-94) There’s little debate that the Chateau de Puligny-Montrachet had their best vintage in eons in 2005 – on par with the very best in Burgundy. I was told this two years ago by several well-known pundits in Beaune but I didn’t believe them – boy was I wrong. I’m not sure if this is the portfolio of the vintage but it’s darn close, especially if you veer toward dry extract ratios that are intense to say the least. Montrachet rarely exists anymore at this price level and the Chevalier and Batard are not far behind (if behind at all). All of these should age for decades. 2005 Château de Puligny-Montrachet Chevalier-Montrachet (BH93-95) 2005 Château de Puligny-Montrachet Le Montrachet (BH93-96) 2003 Larcis-Ducasse 1.5lt STRICT LIMIT 2/person 2006 Pyramid Valley “Hille” Semillon EXTREMELY LIMITED The Wine Advocate just showered Pyramid Valley with much deserved love and we have this last set of 2006’s. If you haven’t taken the plunge, you will be very glad you did. Pyramid Valley is on of the most important new wineries in the emerging world and I urge you to get better acquainted with their wines Winery Notes: “2.9 tonnes/acre from this vineyard at the very top of the Brancott valley; remorselessly stony soils and a long growing season. Hand picked in three separate tries, whole-bunch pressed, no settling, indigenous yeast fermentation in French oak, primarily 500 litre puncheons (55% new). Bottled June 2007 after 15 months on original lees. Alcohol 13.9%, pH 3.35, RS 2.0 g/l. Production: 510 cases. Pale gold with green tinges. Penetrating nose of lemon flower, kaffir lime, Vietnamese mint, chervil, candle wax. Great thrust, elongating energy, verve; an exciting combination of viscosity and racy acidity (mandarin).” 2006 Pyramid Valley “Kerner Estate” Pinot Blanc EXTREMELY LIMITED Winery Notes: “3.4 tonnes/acre from a cool, strong-soiled site on Fareham Lane in the Waihopai Valley. Hand picked, whole-bunch pressed, no settling; indigenous yeast fermentation lasting 11 months, in mostly older French oak (15% new). Bottled without fining in March 2007. Alcohol 13.9%, pH 3.40, RS 2.5 g/l. Production 350 cases. Pale yellow/gold. Yellow plum (mirabelle) and honeydew; wild- or hedgeflowers, e.g. hawthorn blossom; and a leesy, biscuity, nutty complexity from the very long ferment. Fresh, floral, delicate, but with surprising texture and volume; affable, delicious, but serious and concentrated enough to weather scrutiny (you think? - JR)” Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA NZ5610 NZ5620 Bord7722

(Château Larcis Ducasse) Nice plummy, sweet nose; light bodied, plummy fruit with already integrated tannins, but open knit and mid-palate gap; short-medium finish
