July 15, 2012 - I would agree with winegr on the tasting notes. I wouldn't confuse it with a French Syrah, but it was rich without being a fruit bomb or heavy on the alcohol. I thought it lost a lot on day two, so I think it's drink up time for this one.

June 5, 2012 - What a great and elegant expression of CA syrah. This reminds me of something like a Michael Havens Hudson syrah in an elegant year. There is a beautiful fruit and spice tothis wine in a classically dry way. No heat despite the 14.1. Nice hint of chocolate, earth, and slight mineral to balance the beautiful understated fruit. Sophisticated stuff. 91+

June 3, 2012 - Notes based on memory. Decent, but not as good as other CA syrah that I've had at this price. A bit thin, and without sufficient acidity or tannins compared to others.

Given the strong reviews of other CTers, one of two things is possible.
1. I had a bad bottle. It did not taste as if something was wrong with it per se, but it could have been flawed.
2. I simply do not like this style/type of wine. You can't like 'em all.
I am favoring #2. For those of you who enjoyed this wine, good on ya.
