July 26, 2023 - Final bottle of a Garagiste offer for 2011. I have to laugh at this fortified wine coming in at just over 15% alcohol. Either the grapes weren’t ripe or this was from a different era because for the last decade every Syrah, zin many cabs reach these heights. Truthfully this isn’t really my thing but I can appreciate it for the nutty, zesty thing it is, rife with Spanish orange marmalade notes. If you bought this, I’d really think about drinking it and I can imagine drinking it while snacking in Marcona almonds. Think I’ll break out some cashews.

October 22, 2020 - Drank over a few weeks. While it changed and faded a little, it remained a nice drinkable sherry. Rating from the group I opened with, as they have more knowledge of sherry. Solid example of the style.

June 23, 2020 - Lychee and ripe mandarin without a hint of sweetness. I think I have one more. Getting through these Garagiste offers (all three sweetness levels) has been a bit of a chore. I don’t find much news for sherry-esque wines these days.

March 25, 2018 - Wine Tasting Group - Theme: Spain - March 25, 2018 (Javier's Home): Organic unfortified fino aged under flor in American oak barrel for 2 yrs. Abv 15% if I remember correctly. Beautiful floral, nutty, mildly oxidative aromas. Palate also shows nuts, baked unripe pears, some minerals. The palate has less acid and more mellow than the aromas would suggest. Not as much energy on the palate prob due to lower acid. Still enjoyed it though.
