  April 7, 2024 - Note from day two. Pronounced exotic nose of blackberry, dark plum, cassis, forest floor, five spice. Some emerging tertiary notes of mushroom and leather which weren’t there on day one. Full bodied on the palate with plush, velvety mouthfeel, very ripe tannin, and long balanced finish. Outstanding. I think it’s drinking well at 15 years of age and happy to have opened my case at this point. The emerging tertiary character will evolve however so also happy to be drinking this over the next 15 years.

  March 31, 2024 - Decanted 1 hour
  Dark ruby red.
  It needed the decant. Very tight.
  Cherry, wax, red rope licorice, a bit of dusty boot, green pepper. Still feels very young amazingly. Hints of secondary characteristics coming out. Great mouthfeel and mouth coating. Cherry ludens. Very good wine

  March 4, 2024 - This wine seems a little polarising among those I follow on here.
  
  I found it a good example of 2009, now entering its peak drinking window. Tannins were soft/plush and notes of blackberry. Generally good, if slightly unspectacular. In fact I saw this pretty much as purple tooth described recently
  
  93-94 for me. I’m not expecting great development from here, but will hold my remaining bottle a few years, just for interest

  February 16, 2024 - This is now clearly mature and well into the beginning of its drinking window. This bottle was opened, sampled, and served hours later. It showed soft like a 10 year old Margaux with very beautiful allure. But the tell tale aromas of forest decay and black truffles took it away into what could have been a mature and perfuming Bordeaux from any great producer. I would not hold this for magic, because the underlying fruit was just not there. I looked at some other notes and was shocked to see others describe this as Jammy. I would say that this wine has finally fallen into its own balance. The black truffles reverberated all throughout the wine, followed with fresh tilled earth. Drink!

  December 4, 2023 - This started very tight on the first day, even after a 4 hour decant. More like a 2010 than a 2009. The nose was chiseled and precise graphite. On the palate, strict and detailed on the entry with resolved but lively tannins on the ripe finish. Good tension. On day 2 this was transformed with the nose expressively adding dark fruits and cinnamon notes to the graphite. It gained weight on the palate becoming lush, rounded and ripe (for St. Estephe). Excellent now and for many years to come.
