July 8, 2023 - From half bottle. Intense aromas of cherry, brambleberry, cassis, liquorish, earth and leather. Good tension with well integrated tannin, but still rather grainy. This is evolving nicely and a big step-up from 4 years ago (from 75cl bottle) – and should improve further with time.

June 18, 2023 - Drunk on Father's Day; popped and poured. Another stellar bottle, great right out of the gate. Excellent dark red with a violet rim. Lotsa legs, some thin, some thick, but there are lots of them. I've always thought of Calon Segur, a St. Estephe after all, as a tough wine needing more than most Bdx time to unfurl. But my perception and my experience has not jibed. Here we have a 14 year-old wine that seems ready to go. Mind you, it might get a lot better, but it is certainly very good already. There is a smorgasbord of nuanced aromas and flavors that make this seem quite feminine. Just a beauty that commends itself to drinking from now and for probably another 30 years, as there are still chewy tannins here to see it through for all those years. 5-13-17-9: 94/100.

May 28, 2023 - Popped-and-poured, this had a great & intense aromatics tart with black cherry, cassis, and roasted meat. Less forthcoming to start on the palate, we simply to wait a few minutes to coax our nearly as exciting flavors. Good now, better in another decade.

May 27, 2023 - Cheese pairing with this wine - bonneville end of May. Deep purple color. Mint, chocolat, baked red fruits, black pepper, vanilla. Med acidity, full body, high alcohol, Med flavor intensity, dry tannins and med+ finish. Minty, green notes, nice black berries, vanilla, sweet black pepper, mild milk chocolate, this is subtle and tertiary notes are building. Excellent already but at this stage I would recommend a few hours of decanting.
