October 30, 2015 - Nose: Dense blue fruit, Chocolate, Black Pepper and Anise. Very californian in style with a big forward nose. Palate: Seamless and silky with dense blue fruit notes, blackberry and more black pepper from the petite sirah. Finish: Not too complex, but the fruit does linger.
This is ready to drink now but does not have great focus. It spills out of its frame a bit and the petite sirah gives it a "grapey" tone. Enjoyed with marinated steak tips which it paired with well, but my impression is that this showed better in its youth. -

May 3, 2014 - Even though I said on 4/20/14 no need to rush on this wine, I recalled how it tasted, and that it was in a good place, so we drank our last bottle. Nice. I would reiterate that it is not just in a good place, but that it has everything there that would suggest it will drink well for two to three more years.

April 20, 2014 - Didn't get any of the sediment that others have commented on. Really quite a nice wine. Very rich, and as someone else said, the cab in this blend really sings. Everything was in balance, with the PS set well against the big fruitiness of the cab. Tannins are resolved. The bouquet is a bit like that of a fuller bordeaux. The PS gives the wine an almost opaque appearance. All in all, nice to sip by itself, but was an amazing pairing with the smoked (lean) brisket with spicy BBQ sauce. No rush on our next/last bottle (12-24 months).

May 1, 2013 - The sediment was there as noted by others, but this was a very typical Mark Herold effort.

July 2, 2011 - BBQ filet mignon dinner with Matt and Hannah. Throwing off an incomprehensible amount of sediment, but tasty nonetheless. Cassis, cherries and sweet pomegranate predominate, with a white pepper, cedar and slightly minty finish. The Cab really shines in this blend, and it's a great accompaniment to grilled foods. It's marred, however, by all the gunk that clings to the glass, even from first pour (bottle was set on end for 3 hours and poured carefully). Tannins are pretty well resolved. Drink now to 2013.
