October 30, 2011 - Dark gold color, this is a big, rich wine that seems to be holding fine but is fully mature and one to think about toward the end or after a meal vs. earlier as it is on the rich, sweet side - as the Schoffit's tend to be. A-

March 31, 2006 - Guest at STG Alsatian Tasting at Sea Garden (Sea Garden Restaurant, Bellevue, WA): Really, this was a super flight. This didn't reach the lofty height of the Burn either, it was still quite the focused and delicious package. It was quite a bit sweeter and thicker than the previous two, but really spoke to me of Alsace.

March 31, 2006 - Seattle Tasting Group does Alsace (Bellevue, WA): Wow, this stuff grows on you. A huge mineral stink greets you on the nose, more monolithic than the rest of the flight. But then OMFG, the richness of the palate, wax, licorice, spice, wowza so long, just awesome. Mmm, the nutmeg and pie spice just keep kicking in. The palate weight is remarkable, almost a VT level of richness, but I successfully guessed that this was non VT from a producer like Schoffit. (At a similar tasting 9 months earlier I recall being stunned at my first Schoffit and thinking it HAD to be a VT. Thank goodness I wasn't fooled twice on this...)

July 22, 2005 - Seattle Tasting Group does Alsace (Bellevue, WA): Pineapple and apricot with deep, DEEP color, clove, overripe on the nose. The palate is syrupy and intense, a bit heavier than it needs to be, hinting at cough-syrup, impressive yet faintly cloying.
