February 24, 2014 - This wine is getting some tough press. A bottle I had in August of 2011 was really bad. So bad, i could not muster up a review but would have put it in the low 80s. This next bottle was a wonderful surprise. Not sure what happened. Bottle variation and/or time? Now: Pale, gold tinged yellow. Kiwi on the nose. Lovely mix of white fruit, citrus, brown sugary spice and playful acidity in the mouth. The wine has the graceful lightness of a kabinett with some of the gentle viscous weight of age. Very nice salt, slate and banana (banana?! saint stephen is right on- what's up with the banana!?) on the finish. This has assuaged all my guilt for having gone big on 2012!

May 10, 2011 - Oh dear. A bit tired I fear. But I still drank it. Somewhat enjoyable fruit (I'm going to say 40% apple, 15% pear, 15% grapefruit, 10% lemon, 20% banana! What's up with the banana??) but a little hollow on the midpalate and the acidity is lacking. Sort of tired and flabby, but then, aren't we all?

March 28, 2010 - Pretty straw color. Nose mildliy petrol, with lemon and floral undertones. Palate much sweeter than expecter. Seemed sweeter than the last bottle we had 2+ years ago. Good solid acidity, but perhaps needs more to offset the sweetness. Need to drink this ice cold to allow the acidity to balance out with the fruit / sweetness.
