Community Tasting Notes 5

March 15, 2018 - 1993 Red Burgundy Horizontal: The nose here is quite rustic with dark red berry fruit. In the glass the rim is bricking more than any of the other glasses. There is some red berry energy, but this has browning tertiary notes too. On the palate this is tightly wound and souring. Whereas as each of the other wines in the first flight are encouragingly fresh and lively this one is falling apart.

May 31, 2012 - Ruby red with orange rim. In the nose, this seems already on the decline with fruit in rum, black cherry, thyme notes, some oak. On the palate with heavy acidity, notes of griotte cherry and red currant. Medium long finish. Should be drunk now.

October 22, 2010 - Brooding, with barnyard notes. Never really blossomed. May not have been a great bottle.

July 12, 2010 - Boy this didnt show nearly as well as last time. oxidative notes on the nose, with a touch of fruit but mostly acid and tannin. spinning capsule and the last bottle was quite nice, but not this one. night 2 was better but still not what i hoped for.

December 21, 2009 - Popped and poured. Medium ruby with moderate bricking at the rim. Pretty nose of sauvage, ripe pinot fruit and a whiff of tar. Good presence in the mouth, if a touch simple. longish finish.
