Community Tasting Notes 7

February 21, 2020 - Opened, decanted and drunk. I wouldn't do more than that, since after an hour it had faded a bit. Past its prime, but still drinking really well.

December 15, 2016 - 1999 are singing. This showed well. Lovely amalgam of tea leaves and deep strawberry rhubarb. Some earth and touches of smoke. Liked it a lot.

June 11, 2015 - Took some time to open up, but this was interesting aromatically right away: Coffee, foie gras, and black tea. Palate was initially weak but it turned out that the wine was pretty beastly!

With about 90 minutes of air some sweet tripe raspberry fruit started to give weight and texture and then all was right with the world. From there it just got even more dense and dark. Some chocolate and spice notes opened up the finish. A big wine like this just needs a lot of air to get it together.

April 9, 2009 - Last minute Easter offline featuring the wines of 1999 (Rotisserie Jules, South Kensington, London): Looks younger than the blind burg. Muted but clean raspberry notse. Delicate. Classy, but needs much more time. Liked around the table but I struggled to get much out of it.

October 19, 2007 - Started out very tight and essentially stayed that way throughout the night. Will wait a couple years before cracking the next one.
