  November 22, 2020 - 2008 Orofino Beleza (Similkameen)
  This aptly named (beleza means beauty in Portuguese) Merlot-dominant Bordeaux blend exudes promise. Deep ruby ink. Alluring black cherry and cola nose. Wondrous flavours of tart black cherry, cocoa and coffee. But then those tannins kick in...like too many ants at a picnic (I mean the insect variety, not your relatives). The wood lingers far too long (think magazine-bearing religion conversionists at your front door early on a Saturday morning). This wine’s initial elegance is quickly euthanized by the overly hot and tannic finish. Beleza and the Beast. A Fiat 500 bolted onto an F150 frame just becomes trashy on that chassis. Dwayne Johnson would not be the Rock if propped on legs of stork. Sadly, these issues of structure and balance prevent an interesting wine from dancing with the stars. It may settle down in a while but I doubt the fruit will outlast the tempestuous tannin’s teen years.

  September 11, 2016 - Smooth full bodied red. Slight greenness still hanging on but very drinkable wine.

  May 26, 2013 - Nice dark color, beautiful nose of velvety caramel cherry. Palate is medium to full, only loses something on the finish. A bit of harsh acid/tannin on finish detracts, but otherwise an extremely nice wine.
