November 18, 2023 - Tone’s 75th Birthday Bash: this was shown blind, by the birthday boy himself. Good solid color; very classy nose, initially secondary with bold rich underlying fruit it slowly opens to classic tertiary Worcestershire, rich leather, sous bois and umami goodness; wonderfully velvety and elegant palate; all in balance and resolved. Truly excellent. Made by Jean Gros(?)

November 18, 2023 - This shows age at this point but starts off somber and borderline muted, though it opens like a flower with shoe polish and soy sauce, then revealing onion compote, autumn wood, beef stock and olive. Perfectly integrated tannins revealing an almost soupy, creamy palate impression. Chinese five spice, too.

September 7, 2021 - It's not very often that you can say that a Richebourg exceeds your expectations, but this was such a case...
Credit must be given to Remoissenet. This was a Richebourg that lived up to both its pedigree and vintage.
Fairly good fill at about 4.5 cm and cork came out in good condition.
Not decanted but allowed to open up in the glass.
It showed the complexity and structure that we expected. The aromas kept developing over two hours. Based on this bottle, the wine could have aged for another 5+ years.
Still significant tannin structure but elegant tannins; just holding everything together..
An incredible bargain purchased at auction.

September 5, 2021 - Never certain how the older bottles turn out and this one was a very pleasant surprise. Fill was medium high and cork was in good condition. Colour still quite intense; dark deep ruby. The fruit notes jumped out of the glass, forward dark red fruit with mineral notes; still quite primary. The first impression on the palate is the sweetness of the fruit but that is balanced with just right acidity level; amazing balance and intensity on the mid palate and leading to a moderately long finish. Tannins were not notable over the intense fruit. Drank over two hours with no sign of deterioration over that time. I found the wine had a very relaxing influence on me while drinking it; it forced to be in the moment. I do not recall another wine such an effect.
