January 11, 2022 - Needed an hour or two, then showed better its dark fruits and a light leather. We enjoyed this Margaux a lot. My wife drank half the bottle, that says more then any other comment.

January 9, 2022 - Dark fruits. Went well with rib roast. I’m quite impressed with the 09s.

November 21, 2021 - First bottle from a full case bought on release. Splash decanter and drank over 2h or so. As others have noted this is surprisingly developed and drinking well already. Medium bodied with good freshness and a fair bit of leather already. Well balanced and nice to drink after a little bit of air which blows of some initial oaky notes.
Excellent Brane but like other 09s makes me wonder if this will really be head and shoulders above the best past Brane vintages. Given the mediocre 90s and 2000s this estate has produced, for me the benchmarks would still be 86, 82 and perhaps 89

October 28, 2021 - Ka-Boom! I wasn't sure this would be that memorable or even ready to drink, but I decided to try a bottle to check-in on it. To me, this is a wonderful expression of the Margaux appellation. Wonderful nose of lavender and gardenia, crushed minerals, black currant, cassis with a touch of anise. The fruit concentration is notable from the 2009 vintage as you would expect. The aromas in the glass and the lengthy & persistent finish had me coming back for more. The tannins were fine grained. While still in its early maturity window, it will be tough to resist my other bottles in the cellar. Decanted for 30 minutes and then consumed over 2 hours.

October 28, 2021 - Blanco brought to Panetiere last nite for our farewell dinner there. Nose of red fruit along with some floral aromas. Ripe cherries, leather, some earth on the palate. The wine was decanted for hours, and it was needed--could've used a bit more time out of bottle IMO. Very pretty wine, but still mostly in a primary stage. Tannins softer and smoother than I would've thought. Good depth, concentration and balance but it needs time to develop. Give it at least a few more years before trying again.
