February 29, 2016 - Still surprisingly youthful and very light coloured. Light notes of petroleum combined with lemon and pineapple. Quite powerful and good acidity. Alas my only bottle - if I had more it would be interesting to keep for another 5-6 years if not more.

October 5, 2011 - Fabulous aged dry Riesling. Nose has evolved into stony minerals and crisp tropical fruit like pineapple and mango and lemon as well. Quite sweet flavours in the mouth, although the wine is dry (as is the style of the house I believe, even for an Erstes Gewachs). Texture is chalky and there is smokiness and citrus peel bitterness to balance sweeter aromas. Complex wine that opens up like a fan in the mouth and has a finish which produces almost pain because of the minerals and is very long. Quintessential Riesling both powerful and elegant.

September 23, 2011 - More an Australian- like Riesling due to evident kerosene aromas. Lemon colour with citrus, vegetality and petrol. Almost phenolic in palate with medium + body and integrated acidity. More powerful than elegant.

March 8, 2008 - Lunch by Hans Horberth * with Weil, Reinhartshausen and Johannishof (Rheingau Gourmet & Wine Festival Hattenheim, Germany): Starting to evolve, petrol, ripe acidity, lovely length. Stylish.

(Robert Weil Kiedrich Grafenberg Erstes Gewachs) Huge nose of wet stones, chalk, tangerine, nectarine and peach skin. Amazing complexity and depth to this nose. My nose was in this wine more than any other wine of the night. Palate had oodles of fruit and gentle yet noticeable acidity. Really very pure stuff.
