Community Tasting Notes 101

March 19, 2024 - Round and supple tasting with a plum nose, I found this wine to lack vibrancy and freshness in the fruit - sort of dry and dusty. Caveat: I am a Burg fanatic and like higher acidity wines, and the only Bordeaux I’ve had recently was a mind blowing CHATEAU DUCRU BEAUCAILLOU that reminded me what great wines are all about!

March 11, 2024 - Day 1: Impenetrably inky blackish purple red in color with moderate bricking. The nose is quite lovely and vibrant with lots of ripe mature purple and red fruits, bramble, slight menthol, cedar and earthy mineral. The palate is quite rich and generous yet round and very, very soft, medium-bodied at best, very well balanced with virtually no alcoholic heat despite the 14% ABV, a slightly wet and watery profile with plenty of grippy tannins which adds a very nice but interesting and complimentary feel especially towards the moderately long finish. The flavor components in this big and fruit-drive wine is quite expressive and it includes plenty rich quality purple and red fruits integrated seamlessly with, fresh twigs, wet leaves, slight menthol, cedar oak, and ends with a very heavy dose of earthy minerality towards the backend with a slightly diluted mouthfeel. What else can I say, this is a very decent 15-year old St. Emilion Grand Cru that is very mellow and drinking very well at this juncture. Though it’s still has what it takes to last for at least the short to midterms, but why wait anymore? Day 2: Everything seems to be even more seamlessly integrated tonight. A very soft and delicious wine. Day 3: Seems to have picked up some substantial weight, the watery profile has evolved into a more integrated and robust structure with everything in its rightful place, simply amazing! It tastes absolutely fantastic tonight, the best of the three night by far. I think it deserves an increment in the score. Personally, I think the wine has already reached its peak and will most likely will not develop beyond what it already has. But having said that, it really needs time if you choose to drink it now, I mean a lot to time to really open up to its full potential. On a personal note, I purchased this particular bottle back in 2012 from a Costco on a trip to Taipei, Taiwan. 92 - 94

February 28, 2024 - Dekantert.

February 18, 2024 - alongside a lovely 2010 chateau st jean cinq cepages, this packed a more powerful olfactory punch, with stewed fruit, plum, and earth. fully mature now, the palate was soft and round, nicely savoury. no need to wait on these 2009s. drink.

January 13, 2024 - Just wonderful from pop and pour at 18 degrees. Juicy dark delicious plums bitter chocolate but not heavy or too sweet. Great if you’re in the mood for a fun juicy easy Napa style right banker.
