March 15, 2023 - Decanted 2 hours beforehand. Brown sugar nose. Very supple black fruit, chocolate and a tiny bit dry on the finish. Rich and ripe.

March 15, 2023 - Nick A's Pomerol Part 2 (67 Pall Mall, London): Twiggy, reedy nose. Deep camphor and aniseed character. Palate is slightly medicinal, more aniseed; modern, not really my thing.

March 15, 2023 - Nick's Pomerol Dinner (67 Pall Mall, London): Nose shows ripe darker fruit, chocolate. A touch spirity and sweaty. Medium bodied, ripe black fruits, a touch of warmth and slightly furry tannins on the finish. OK but not at the level of the other two in this flight.

March 15, 2023 - Nick's Pomerol Part II (67 Pall Mall, London): Quite dark crimson. Ripe vintage yet the nose came over as slightly duller and certainly on the blue / black fruit. Medium bodied with supple tannins and juicy dark purple fruit and good freshness. By itself over dinner this would be thoroughly satisfying but it should really be better than it is, given the prime terroir from where it originates. From Zalto Bordeaux.

March 15, 2023 - Pomerol, part 2 (67 Pall Mall): Notably saline across both nose and palate, with lots of dark fruit that verged on having a roasted quality, and hints of greenness and even mothballs. Chunky on the palate, with sweet truffle and a slight want of precision. We enjoyed this wine, but it suffered a bit next to the Cons '10. Felt ready or perhaps even slightly past peak.
