April 25, 2024 - Dekantert. Ikke gøy, hverken dag 1 eller dag 2. Oppleves som en billig St. Julian, og denslags gidder jeg ikke.

April 14, 2024 - 'Well, hello sailor!' this wine seemed to say to me as I hauled out the cork. From the word go this reflects a glorious, warm vintage - all exuberant dark wine gum and some tobacco leaf. Not that complex but the balance is superb and it is so hard to stop pawing away at the magnificent cleavage of this wine.

Tannins are fine, acid is just sufficient and, as the picture on the label suggests, many Vikings like this wine. I have always felt that it is silly to argue with a Viking and so, like me, you should just surrender to this voluptuous creature.

I found that this wine went well with porn, a good steak, more porn and some excellent music, but you may prefer to substitute more porn for the steak if you are a sensible Viking.

CB is a bit of a sentimental favourite of mine, for reasons involving a grand time with a half bottle of the 1982 and a fine meal with a Viking from New Zealand, many years ago. I have yet to have a bad CB and I have also had some really grand ones. This wine is perhaps just that touch too hedonistic to rank with the greatest, but it is close, so close.

March 31, 2024 - Easter dinner Magret du Canard
For those who have saved this for something special, you're in for a treat.
Well balanced, lean with a long pleasant finish. Nose is complex with a variety of nuance. Will last a while, but to what point?
    Enjoy.

March 17, 2024 - Tasted semi-blind, the 2009 Beychevelle shows gloriously. Plumpish and plush on the nose, offering plum and clay, purple flower and saltwater. Impressively fragrant, floral volume in the mouth, retaining its equilibrium for all of its impact. Clean, unlike the last example, finishing well.

    Harvested Sept 21-Oct 12 at 45hl/ha, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot.

January 27, 2024 - 4th Saturday Brown Bagger (J&S’s): Double blind. Ripe, with jammy dark fruit, plum and black raspberry aromas, with an underlying herbal quality. Full-bodied. Plum and red fruit on the palate. Guessed Napa blend. (R&D)
