Community Tasting Notes 5

August 9, 2020 - Surprisingly good for it's level and vintage. Definitely showing age, but fruit is still just barely out front. More of a food wine (grilled herb chicken), but truly enjoyable.

February 9, 2011 - Very dark maroon color. Nose shows fresh citrus, violets, animale, and a little oak in the background. Initial palate is creamy fruit (cherries and boysenberries), which quickly transitions to mouth-drying tannins. Mid-palate shows some earthiness, fruit's still there, a little acidic spine. The back palate has decent complexity of fruit and structure. Tannins come back on the finish and, with the help of some reasonable acidity, close out the show. No rough edges and no flat or sour notes. Great food wine (paired mine with some basic Italian fare), and a decent stand alone bottle. (87-89).

February 5, 2011 - Bandols & Chateauneuf-Du-Papes (Vin, Vino, Wine): Murky clarity, wet dog / hair salon on the nose. At first this wet dog aroma was interesting then it became tiresome. Floral flavors with a chemical like band aid flavor too. Short finish.

November 11, 2010 - Fresh, clean & lively come to mind. Nice delicate fruit on the palate/nose. Nothing like the '07 CdP's, which are extremely powerful & complex, needing time. This is an immediately pleasurable wine.

(Domaine de la Côte de l'Ange Châteauneuf-du-Pape) Dark purple red violet color; herbal, dried herbs, smoke, tart dried black fruit nose with a sense of pepper; dense, tart black fruit, tar, nice garrigue palate, needs 3-plus years; medium-plus finish (70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre)
