May 10, 2017 - Red with tinges of brick. Dense aromas, sweet red fruit, spearmint, herbal aspect. Rich palate with plethora of well balanced flavours, fruit- red cherry, redcurrant, hint of bramble berries, cinnamon and savoury wild mushrooms with a beautiful caramelisation. Soft acidity, soft tannins, good medium length.
This wine is undoubtably drinking at its peak, I really appreciate the balance of savoury, spicy aspects with enough fruit to balance. An outstanding pinot of a good age.

January 12, 2017 - The wine is garnet in colour with brick tinges, good clarity. The nose is full of spiced fruit, some plum, sweet cherries and other red fruits. There is some aniseed to go with cloves and some sichuan pepper with some wild mushroom in the background. The palate has perfectly softened tannins with soft acidity over a silky textured mouthfeel. Flavours of spice, blueberry and plums dominate with some meatiness on the finish. Good amount of length, especially in the front palate. Great quality and in its perfect drinking window right now.

August 21, 2015 - Fruity, spicy, clean and complex. Lots of clove, cardamom, based around forest fruit. The spice follows on the palate with a lovely peppery hit on the finish, as well as sweet cherry and plummy fruit. Great length and direct acid.

September 5, 2012 - Spicy, warm, edgy and tight. Lots of baking spices, clove, nutmeg. Deep acid and round purple fruit. This is quite an expansive wine and I'm guessing it has a fairly high alcohol content. Long tangy finish. This is racy, exciting, energetic. New world styled but not overly sweet or big. An interesting style. At NZ$23 (about US$18) this is a fatastic bargain for a pinot noir.
