May 10, 2021 - Purchased at auction; I have some 2015's in my collection and so was very keen to look at how it ages. Cork in excellent condition, no ullage of which to speak.

Colour is burnished bronze but not flat or brown.

Nose is a heady brew of apricot, apple, toffee and perhaps the slightest hint of rancio. In the mouth these follow through and there is fantastic intensity, great length and a sublime mouthfeel - at first unctuous and almost overwhelming then finishing crisp and clean.

I find German Riesling remains great value on a world scale. Gunderloch are a producer of very correct styles, of high quality and representing great value. I feel great confidence in buying their wine and this just confirms it. If this was a wine of similar quality from Chablis, or Burgundy it would be at least twice the price.

December 27, 2010 - AP #6. This has been open 4 days or so, corked in fridge. Appearance: Golden yellow. Nose: Very sweet: honey, pineapple and golden apple. lots of botrytis. orange marmalade and baking spices underneath. Nose has improved over time - more complex, less heat. Palate: Very soft and sweet. Palate has softened and balanced a little, but lost a step as well. Similar to nose: marmalade, spices, grilled pineapple. Soft throughout but not mushy or too flabby. Very 98 to me. I bought a lot, but have been surprised how forward and soft the wines are. Not as simple as most 97's or 03's, but not exactly what I am looking for in a German wine. Before: Nose: 4/6, Palate: 3/6, Finish: 3/6, Je ne sais quoi (wild card): 0/2 = 10/20. Now: Nose: 4/6, Palate: 4/6, Finish: 3/6, Je ne sais quoi (wild card): 1/2 = 12/20 = 85/100

December 13, 2009 - Drinking nicely. A bit of petrol on the nose. Not sure this will age well longer term....
