July 25, 2023 - Robe rubis foncée, orangée aux pourtours.

Nez discret, fruits noirs, anis, notes animales.

Rond en bouche. Pas le plus expressif mais équilibré et présentant une certaine finesse. Longueur moyenne. Très bien. Ne s’améliorera peut-être pas avec les années mais devrait bien tenir encore un certain temps. Et très bien pour le prix.

August 16, 2021 - Deep colour. Nose with dark plums, fruitcake, blackberries, liquorice, and mild spices, just a hint of herbs, and some flowery notes (lavender?). Palate with medium+ body and ripe darkish berries, good concentration of generous fruit, noticeable tannins that dries out a bit towards the end. The aftertaste is long with ripe berries and some tannins. Drinks well now but no hurry to finish, 89 pts.

This wine has come around fine since my last note five years ago. It still comes across as ripe in a "warm climate style", but the oak has integrated rather well. While it doesn't scream "classic Bordeaux" it's well within the range of contemporary right bank styles, and definitely did its job with fine piece of beef. It probably was in a "dumb phase" when I tried it last time.

June 24, 2019 - Getting better and better with age. After two hours decanting, great nose and much better balanced than few years ago. No signs of off peak. Perhaps will improve even more. 90+

October 4, 2016 - Deep colour. Nose with dark plums, blackberries, liquorice, and spices, as well as some chocolate and coffee. Palate with medium+ body and ripe darkish berries, good concentration of fruit, quite noticeable tannins with a bit of dryish wood tannins to them. Might be in a bit dumb/closed down phase right now, so might benefit from getting real notes of maturity and slightly softer tannins, 87+ p.

This wine is a bit too oaked and "modern" for my taste (with the wood tannins coming through a bit too much at present), but there's no denying the good concentration of fruit for its price level. But then again, a good pick in Lalande-de-Pomerol is often a good value. It definitely goes in the Pomerol rather than the Saint-Emilion direction.
