  July 14, 2019 - Shy on the nose but fairly clean. Good mouthfeel, still some spicy tannins, good concentration and length for a 2nd label. ABV 13.5% with warmth at finish reflecting the vintage. Oaks are not obvious with bitter chocolate at backend. Approachable now but tannins should continue to mellow. Good QPR.

  June 9, 2018 - What a coincidence - opened exactly 5 years after my last bottle. This followed a 04 Smith Haut Lafitte, and is the much better wine now. Also the best second wine frim 2009 I have had. Dark garnet in the glass, excellent balance on the palate, showing none of the overripe fruit many of the 09s still do. Nice acidity and herbal notes matching the dark fruit. Oak is integrated now, so are the tannins. Medium length. Can drink now. 92-93
