April 8, 2023 - Bottle is past its prime but still worthy. Dark berry, earthy nose. Dark fruit has mellowed. Dark inky hue, smooth, well balanced. Can drink without food. Nice fireside wine.

October 26, 2018 - Unlike older L'Ecole Estate Merlots that I have tasted, this 2008 Estate syrah seemed a bit past it's prime. It was smooth and somewhat tasty, but had lost any of that syrah funky berry punch. Had decanted it for one hour and no change in taste.

April 6, 2013 - The nose is of cigar wrapper, blueberry and cedar. Nice rich attack with a wonderful palate weight introducing blueberry and plum, mid palate has a nice pop of acidity and finishing with a soft white pepper and clove finish, although the finish is on the short side. Soft integrated tannin with just enought to keep it together.

February 23, 2013 - Light aromatic nose of pipe tobacco Medium body, dry. Fruit is subdued Better served with a meal than as a sipper.

December 9, 2012 - Popped and poured. This wine has nice development over the past year. Lot's of pepper and spice with big red fruit. Pairs very well with beef or pork. A really nice wine that is drinking well today.
