Community Tasting Notes 5

June 25, 2012 - bottle #2 of 3 .... not living up to expectations - a fair QPR at best - undistinguished at best

April 14, 2012 - Surprisingly open and generous to be so young. Very appealing nose of cherry and baking spice. Slightly sweet red cherry and berry fruit on the palate with a hint of cola. Nice peppery spice on the midpalate and a reasonably long and tasty finish. It could use a little more acid, and I'm not sure how much more it is going to evolve, but it is a very pleasant wine that seems well suited for a beautiful spring day.

September 8, 2011 - I wouldn't classify this as "outstanding", so no rating of 90. It is very good. The initial attack is a little weird - almost prickly. Great nose of macerated fruit (?) Cherries and other red berries on the palate. Very good, but expensive at $60 Canadian. Towards the more feminine side of pinot, with a little kick.

November 2, 2010 - Aromatic, floral, fresh red apple and cherry fruit, spice and mineral nose. Medium-full bodied with a focused, earthy minerality; balanced, complex finish.

June 7, 2010 - I'm not sure what it is with me and Burgundy, but I just can't seem to find one I like, especially when there are so many other wines I do like. I appreciate them for what they are and understand that they're good wines, but they're just not to my palate I guess. The Remoissenet is very well balanced, good strong red fruit (cherries, raspberries) and a very interesting driftwood note, but, it's just too light and faint for my taste. I need something a little meatier, a little more to hold on to. And, at $69 a bottle, I would turn to many other wines before I came back to this one. I will say, however, it did pair quite nicely with the salmon we made on the grill.
