March 11, 2019 - My first bottle of this decent value St Julien, now in a 5 year drinking window. Poor cork which was cause for concern but the wine was soft, enticing and charming with good length. Just polishing off the last of my 2006 which I have thoroughly enjoyed. 2009 is less punchy but as ever it rarely disappoints. No hurry but no need to wait.

December 5, 2018 - Prior note from March - "first smell was leather and then delicious blackcurrant. Taste was soft and very well rounded. Good long aftertaste/finish leaving a wonderful velvety taste and texture in the mouth" - still applies with spades! This time wine was decanted 2-3 hours prior and was even softer without loosing any substance.

December 5, 2018 - Bouquet developed a few tertiary notes (leather, tobacco) besides the plums. Overall rather developed and now at its prime drinking window. I would drink it over the next 5 years.

March 24, 2018 - Opened easily, first smell was leather and then delicious blackcurrant. Hung beautifully to the glass. Taste was soft and very well rounded. Good long aftertaste/finish leaving a wonderful velvety taste and texture in the mouth. Small amount of sediment in the final glass (not decanted.)

Eat with v good quality rib eye steak, not full bodied enough, with anchovy sauce and mushrooms. Perhaps a little delicate
