August 13, 2008 - Beautiful green gold. Lovely wine, natural, pretty full, great purity. Beautiful acids. Alpine fullness. Not as put together second day.

May 31, 2005 - This is in a much more awkward stage than the Chignin. When first uncorked it gives off a weird stink like something from an aerosol can, which thankfully blows off. The fruit is brighter than the Chignin and marked by lemon, more like a Sardegnan Vermentino than anything from Savoie, with an herbal finish. But it is also very dense and compressed by an aggressive acidity that makes the wine tough to enjoy as a sipper. Chignin-Bergeron is Roussanne and has a track record for improving in bottle, even given only a few years, so this one is best stashed away to gain some integration and charm. N.B. I liked this a lot better after two weeks (!) in the fridge. The fruit remains bright but far mellower and purer.
