June 10, 2023 - Pale gold with no hint of green tinge. A more herbaceous expression of Belford with cut grass and wet straw overwriting the lanolin and bees wax that lurks beneath. More of the same on the palate with the green tinge persisting and a clipped finish but the honeycomb of the vineyard still present. It’s a lovely wine it’s just a wet vintage expression of Belford. It will not change much from how it presents today. Lean but lovely. You either love Hunter Semillon or you don’t. And the Sauvignon Blanc references are very uninformed 17.5

February 25, 2022 - The wine has a light yellow glow while the nose is very lanolin driven. It is unmistakably Hunter semillon. However, the palate has lovely lime and lemon nuances that are more reminiscent of a fine cool climate Australian riesling. Despite the wet vintage, any trace of green pea character could not be detected. An intriguing wine that while not typical of the Belford vineyard, nevertheless had an excellent acid spine that went very well with wild caught barramundi.

December 11, 2015 - Not sure why more Aussies haven't propounded this wine as a good example of Hunter Semillon. Anyone who believes this is a sav blanc style should be disregarded. This is in fact text book Hunter Sem. Great acid but just stating to reveal its underlying fruit in December 15. Screwcaps have created a climate of arrested development. Patience will be rewarded. This is hitting its straps now and should be drunk.

June 21, 2013 - Almost sauvignon blanc like on the nose with gooseberry and subtle passionfruit aromas. Weak palate lacking flavour yet there was plenty of acidity. A completely different wine compared to the Vat 1 from the same vintage. This was not showing well.

August 21, 2012 - Pale watery yellow, no green tinges. Slightly broad and undefined nose with some lanolin and green pea - again watery. Midweight without any real depth or length. A bit diluted at leadt. Acid however is not shrill and is relativelyt easy going. Hasn't got the depth nor the drive to be a great wine nor year. Just above average.
