December 7, 2016 - Still showing some signs of life, but not much. Medicinal, alcohol and damp newspaper on the nose. Subdued dark fruit on the palate and no finish to speak of.

November 13, 2014 - A pleasant surprise - nothing wrong with this wine, esp at this price. Fruit and earth, simple.

November 12, 2014 - Just a great bottle for the price. Still drinking well, but I wouldn't wait too much longer. Wine is still velvety and luscious, but now has a bit of an earthy edge.

August 2, 2014 - Lovely Merlot with steak

January 14, 2014 - Paired well with beef shank stew and egg noodles. Even used a little in the stock.

(Columbia Crest H3 Merlot Horse Heaven Hills) Aromatics of dust, vanilla, oak spice, cassis, berries, and cherries. American oak aromas of coconut occasionally come to the fore. On the palate, pretty tightly wound up at present. Ramps up slowly before opening up and smoothing out with silky oak flavors. A lot of wine for the money but not for those who don’t like a fair amount of wood on their wine. Has a long life ahead of it. 92% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, and a "kiss" of Syrah. Aged 14-18 months in French and American oak (33% new). 14.5% alcohol. 40,000 cases produced.
